DEFINITIONS OF THE CONCEPT «ADJECTIVE» IN THE GRAMMAR OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

Karpov A.K., Rotova L.N.

Abstract

The material of the most authoritative editions of grammars of the Russian language of the second half of the nineteenth century makes an attempt to answer the question whether a common generally accepted definition of the name of the adjective as part of speech is formed in modern linguistics. An analysis of the sources showed that such a definition was not created. With rare exceptions, scientists have not been able to correlate the definition of the concepts «Parts of speech» and «Adjective». The definition of the name of the adjective as part of speech is guided only by a group of qualitative adjectives. It is noted that traditional grammars absorbed the undeniable achievements that linguistic science owes to the formal grammars of the second half of the last century. The combination of both grammars is particularly noticeable in school grammar, and the evidence of such a fruitful interaction is, in particular, the modern definition of the name of the adjective in the school textbook of the Russian language.

Belkov A.E., Kultysheva O.M.

Abstract

The relevance of this article is due to the insufficiently developed nature of the problem of traditions and the interpretation of the image of the Muse in the works of M.I. Tsvetaeva. A comprehensive analysis of its evolution in Tsvetaeva's poetry has not been carried out by anyone at home in the national color education. The aim of this work is to study the evolution of the image of the Musa and its interpretation in the work of Marina Tsvetaeva. The cycle «Insomnia», created in 1916, indicates that M. Tsvetaeva did not just create under the Muse, she dedicated her poetry to her. The image of insomnia is for the poetess Muza - close, native, spiritualized, allowing her to be realized as a poet. In it you can see features like Anna Akhmatova, and her muse-sisters, mentors and tormentors. Muse Tsvetaeva suffers, she is « Muse of lamentation», which brings her closer to the suffering Muse of N.A. Nekrasov.

V. MAYAKOVSKY AND N. ASEEV. «TEACHER» AND «PUPIL» OR RELIGION?

Kultysheva O.M.

Abstract

The article deals with the creative interrelationship between V. Mayakovsky and his «fellow on futurism» N. Aseev; the analysis of poetic texts with the involvement of cultural-historical, comparative-historical and hermeneutic methods allows us to conclude that the artistic worlds of poets contain many similarities. This concerns the explicit thematic unanimity shown by both poets (and the themes common for them were the anti-war, the revolution, the building of socialism, etc.), the reason of which was not the student's borrowing of Aseyev's literary themes and the discoveries of Mayakovsky, but the public atmosphere was the creative pathos of the young Soviet state. This conclusion is confirmed by the fact that in the creative biography of Mayakovsky there have been instances of appealing to Aseev's poetic finds (in particular, in the field of artistic imagery and rhyme) and using them in his own works.

GOD-MOTHER MITHOLOGEM IN THE ART OF OB UGRIC PEOPLE

Sebeleva A.V., Rimareva E.N.

Abstract

The paper explores interconditionality of the terms mythologeme and archetype. Explaining the essential ways of their perception by different ethnoses, the article maintains that similar mythological world views are common to different peoples thus bearing and manifesting identical characters and images. Together, these images and characters make a certain part of human soul and appear as basic concepts - archetypes. Mythologemes, a component part of mythogenesis, with their ability to absorb past experiences and foreground reality are a basic pattern to create new myths. Mythologemes amalgamate archaic thinking with the author’s individual mythopoetics. Mythologemes are an essential foundation of the text, they epitomize the dynamics of the archetypal source matter with its unique ability to transform. Mythological elements consciously borrowed and translated into artistic culture make the cornerstone of a mythologeme as a literary term. All mythological world views manifest worship of God-Mother, the main female deity. The paper argues that God-Mother mythologeme is a part and characteristic of various cultural traditions. It neither affiliates a certain culture nor belongs to a particular period of time. The paper links it to the perception of a woman as a cradle of life. The similarity of plots employing God-Mother witnessed in many mythologies, demonstrate the foundation strength of this mythologeme in the world culture history. This mythologeme epitomized in many ethoses is one of the most recurrent constructions. In Khanty-Mansi mythology this mythologeme is embodied in the female deity, Numi-Torum’s wife, Mother-deity whose cult is one of the most ancient in the world.

FEATURES OF PORTRAYING ARCHETYPAL IMAGES IN THE EARLY NOVELLAS OF A.I. KUPRIN

Shinkevich (Katrenko) O.N.

Abstract

This article examines the features of the archetypal portrait and its functioning in the early novels of A.I. Kuprin «Moloch» and «Olesya». The relevance of this study lies in the ambiguous approach to the phenomenon of a literary portrait, expressed in a variety of typologies, and especially its functioning in the early works of A.I. Kuprin. The results of the research made it possible to assert that in his early work A.I. Kuprin turns to mythopoetics, implements archetypal images, using the artistic method of portraying. The literary portrait has become the object of close attention of researchers since the XXth century. At the same time, there is no unambiguous and fundamental work devoted to this topic. In the course of the work it became clear that when creating an archetypical image, the author uses such a portrait of the character, which can be called an «archetypal portrait» that has its own characteristics: static, unchanged psychological state of the character, character throughout the storyline of the work, as well as a detailed description of the appearance, maximally Similar to the mythological image (the external portrait of the character exactly coincides with the description of the mythological deity in the Mythological Encyclopedia). Characterological qualities of the mythological deity are transformed in the character's image and are the final proof of the presence in the text of the archetypical image.

Berdnikova I.V., Mokina M.V.

Abstract

The article deals with the psychological and philosophical aspects of Michael Cunningham’s prose on the basis of the novel “By Nightfall” (2010). These aspects are expressed by means of principles of literary metamodernism and existential philosophy. The aim of the article is to study the functioning of philosophical and psychological aspects in the novel under the title “By Nightfall”. The research was conducted by means of continuous sampling and contextual analysis methods and revealed that psychological and philosophical aspects fit into the limits of theory of metamodernism and existentialism. Furthermore, the results of the research state that the author mainly touches upon such aspects of metamodernism as syncretism - the aesthetic type (the combination of sensuality and transcendence) and the rational type (the combination of various shades of the mood) - and borrows the essence of existential philosophy i.e. the search for individual path and one’s self, the overcoming of the life crisis (“liminality”). The interaction of principles of metamodernism and existentialism gave the author the opportunity to convey the struggle of the life crisis through getting in touch with one’s sensuality and to fully expose the idea of the book implied in its title - “By Nightfall”, the reflection of the transitional state of mind caused by the midlife crisis that is journey from youth with all its energy and opportunities to the decline when many of the opportunities are closed forever. The scientific novelty and relevance of the work lie in the exploration of the interaction of psychological features and principles of existential philosophy in the novel “By Nightfall” by Michael Cunningham and in the reflection of this interaction with the help of such stylistic devices as free indirect speech and elliptical dialogues. The methodological basis for the study were the works of T. Vermeulen and R. van den Akker, L. Turner, V. Gorunov (metamodernism); M. Heidegger, K. Jaspers, G. Marcel, N. A. Berdyaev (existentialism). These sources were deemed reliable as the studies belong to the founders of metamodernism and existentialism. Pavlova E.A.

Abstract

The author of the article dwells upon the notion of «creative abilities of students» from the point of view of pedagogy, psychology and methods of teaching English and stresses that a foreign language can and should contribute to development of creative abilities of students, if the teacher regularly gives them the tasks, expanding their overall outlook and developing their imagination, thinking, memory, emotions. Nowadays the teacher is responsible whether the future generation will only reproduce the blocks of information they have learnt by heart or they will be able to find alternative solutions of the problems they face in their practical work in this or that sphere. Emphasis should be placed on individual, differentiated multilevel tasks that would stimulate cognitive activity of students, would give them the opportunity to develop their creative abilities at English lessons (in the classroom or when doing homework). The author shares her own experience of using some creative tasks and activities carried out by the first-second year students of the department of foreign languages in the framework of such disciplines as «Oral and written speech», «Practical grammar», «Methods of teaching» and during the students’ teaching practice at schools of Nizhnevartovsk.
